Stig Hagström
Chancellor of Swedish Universities

Stig B Hagström is Chancellor of Swedish Universities. He also holds the position of Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University.

Stig Hagström Received his academic education and training at Uppsala University, earning his doctorate in physics in 1964.

He served as Associate Professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, 1966-69, before assuming the positions of Professor of Materials Physics and Vice Chancellor of the Univcersity of Linköping.

In 1976 Dr Hagström moved to the United STates. He served as Manager of the General Science Laboratory, Acting Center Manager and Senior Research fellow at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center before assuming the position of Director of the Stanford Center for Material Research. He currently holds the title of Professor of Materials Science and Professor, by courtesy, of electrical Engineering at Stanford University. In the autumn of 1992 he was appointed Chancellor of Swedish Universities.
